thats as compact as i can make it ,it mostly fits in the space above the motor ,i've test fitted it with the battery and lipo alarm and it all fits , it's a bit wobbly when fully pulled back but quite secure fully forward ,it's because the handle is completely held in place by the 3mm guide rod and just rests in the slot so its nice and tight at the fully forward but not so much furthest back .

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......

You could just buy two no4 sling mounts ,they aren't expensive and would look the part on the box.

This is really near completion now ,just have to cut out a section of the lower receiver on the left side below the sling point ,a fake screw in the bottom of the lower receiver ,the sling points and a fair degree off surface finishing and she's ready !

What I can't get over is how natural the sights feel now I have the stock on it ,all the way through the build I've been holding it up trying to see how it would feel and I've been thinking no that's just wrong but now with the stock to my shoulder it feels right ,I guess I should have know the designer would get that right but it's only this late in the build that I agree and like the feel of it ,it's quite weighty and very solid feeling, all the steel I gues ,purposfull even ,your gunna love it trust me !

Today I finished the lower receiver and made up the sling points ,the sling points were quite hard to do ,while its easy with a blow torch ,3mm mild steel rod and two pairs of grips to make one sling point ,the tricky bit is making two exactly the same ,or at least close enough that they look the same at either end of the gun.the rear sling point is fitted but I found I had no nice slotted wood screws for the front one so its down to the shops tomorrow ,get some screws and get it fitted ,after that its just the barrel and barrel fins to blue and she's finished other than a good clean .

Of course I take no responsibility for the reliability of the gearbox ,I can only hope it survives through the first game .....

just the grips to give a final sand down ,stain , oil and bees wax and its finished ,there's just one thing i'd like to ask you ,the barrel fins are aluminium and I've used a chemical blacking process and while the finish is very good it does not wear well ,the solution is to use a clear lacquer over it to keep it looking pristine ,however if you intend on weathering the gun ,steel wooling the highlights then I'd recommend leaving it as is ,you'r choice .

Oh one other final detail will be to black the gearbox where it is visible through the ejection port ,I can't do anything to make it look right but I can make it draw the eye less.

I don't plan to artificially weather it. My feeling is that it will weather itself over time. Laquer is probably a good idea if it will weather significantly faster than the rest of the gun.

Lacquer it is then , oh we were wondering why the sling points were an odd shape ,I can now give you the answer ,its the front one that needs to be the odd shape to keep it above the front grip away from your hand ,I guess they just made them both the same to make production simpler ,it makes sense once you see it first hand .
